Students will construct models of Earth to illustrate how the atmosphere impacts Earth's temperature.
The Energy Coalition will send you black construction paper, white construction paper, masking tape, 1 thermometer, plastic wrap, and The Heat Is On student text to bring this lesson to life.
Lesson Objective: Students will construct multiple models to illustrate the cause-and-effect relationship between the albedo effect, greenhouse gases, and climate change. Students will also collect data and analyze their results to interpret albedo's role on Earth's surface.
Suggested Teaching Time: Two 45 minute class periods
NGSS Standards: 3-LS4-4., 4-ESS3-2., 5-ESS3-1.
