Students will be introduced to the concept of electricity, composed of unseen particles that are all around us in our everyday lives producing potential and kinetic energy.
The Energy Coalition will send you mini disc magnets, AA batteries, copper wire to bring this lesson to life.
Lesson Objective: Students will compare and contrast two forms of electricity—current and static—while describing their cause-and-effect relationship between potential and kinetic energy. Students will also conduct several experiments to observe invisible electrical forces generating power from an atomic reaction.
Suggested Teaching Time: 60 minutes
NGSS Standards: 3-PS2-1., 3-PS2-2.
