Career and Technical Education Alignment Lesson Suggestions
The documents below show the Energy, Environment, and Utilities (EEU) and Engineering and Architecture (EA) pathways that Energy is Everything lessons support by developing foundational knowledge and content expertise. The lessons are listed below the standard it aligns with. Note, all lessons are not 9-12th grade-specific; they are lessons that align with the content target for the standards. Not all standards are met through Energy is Everything lessons, but lesson and standards alignment are listed.
EEU A. Environmental Resources Pathway
EEU B. Energy and Power Technology Pathway
EA D. Environmental Engineering Pathway
Energy is Everything Certification
The Energy is Everything Certification equips students with Integrated Demand Side Management (IDSM) knowledge and skills to empower them to effectively manage energy and water usage in their homes, schools, and communities. IDSM is a comprehensive approach to resource management that supports immediate and long-term energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction. Through the Energy is Everything Certification, students conduct hands-on STEM lessons that inspire them to pursue green career pathways by applying IDSM principles around demand response, energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy sources, and exploration of new technology.
Goals
Provide students with IDSM knowledge and skills to become smart energy managers at home, school, and in the community.
Provide opportunities for active engagement and integration with language arts, civics, science, mathematics, and the environment.
Instill a lifelong energy efficiency and conservation ethic into students and their families.
Encourage students to pursue careers in energy and environmental fields in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M); and (or) the energy/water sector.

Sustainability Certification and Patchway
The Energy is Everything Sustainability Certification and Patchway is designed to equip students with Integrated Demand Side Management (IDSM) knowledge and skills. IDSM is a comprehensive approach to resource management that supports immediate and long-term energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction. Through the Energy is Everything Certification, students learn to effectively manage energy and water usage in their homes, schools, and communities. They will conduct hands-on STEM lessons that inspire them to pursue green career pathways by applying IDSM principles around demand response, energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy sources, and exploration of new technology.
The Energy Coalition (TEC) designed the certification to deliver a tool for students to employ and promote actions with a tangible behavior change in their water and energy use to support these objectives. TEC recognizes that to empower students to manage water-energy nexus use, they must first understand the water-energy nexus equation. This concept enables students to understand better how their behavior plays into environmental impacts and the immediate financial costs to their families.
