Making Methane
Students will investigate natural gas through an experiment that simulates the conditions in which methane gas is formed by decomposing organic material. Students will construct a device to capture methane, analyze and interpret data to assess the conditions in which methane is produced, and explore the role that gases such as methane play in the environment.
The Energy Coalition will send you a funnel, tape, disposable gloves, soil, balloons and a measuring cup to bring this lesson to life.
